Hello!

My name is Ansh.

I am a 24-year old tech enthusiast that believes in solving problems through the process of design thinking and business innovation.

I like working at the intersection of design and high-level programming.

My background

Coming from an army background, I have called many places my home. I made new friends in every city that I lived.

Albeit an introvert at heart, I love meeting new people, swapping stories, and exchanging ideas. I love to travel and find peace in solitude.

Engineering

I graduated as a Computer Engineer in 2019, and that is where I realised how much positive change you can bring about with some passion and a keyboard.

My favourite subjects were Data Structures and Algorithms, Object Oriented Programming, Database Management, and Web Development.

Design

Having been awarded a substantial scholarship at one of the best design schools in the country, I spent a lovely year learning about innovation through design thinking.

Although I dropped out of college to explore the world on my own, what I learnt there has been the foundation of all my work since then.

Dropping out

Once I dropped out, I set my targets for the year, laying out a detailed plan for learning design softwares, brushing up on my coding skills and working on personal projects.

A year turned to two and I ended up taking many more projects than I expected. But in 2022 I decided to wrap it up and finally build this portfolio website in the hope of finding my tribe and working with them.

What’s with the brain?

A popular old theory says that the brain’s two hemispheres are responsible for different functions. It says that individuals have different interests and abilities based on whether they are right or left brain dominated.

Dichotomy symbolized

While the theory is dated and has no conclusive proof, we do find that some of us are either more inclined towards sciences and math while the others love the arts and humanities. Some of us are more emotional while some are more rational.

This duality is what I have tried to represent with the graphic.

Left brain, right?

The left brain symbolizes my love for rationality, logic, and the scientific process of experimentation.

It represents my strong relationship with technology and my programming ability.

The right way

The right brain denotes my predilection towards art, language and humanities.

It cumulates into my passionate love affair with writing, music and design.

My Hobbies

I have never been a big fan of the hustle-and-grind culture, I try to live by these lines.

“We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for.” - John Keating, Dead Poets Society(1989)

I love Brewing Beer...

...almost as much as I love drinking it. I love Witbiers and Pale Ales. To sweat in the kitchen for hours and wait for the beer to ferment over a few weeks is all worth it once you get a taste of some delicious aromatic brews like this beautiful India Pale Ale!

I love to write poetry

Even though I rarely ever sit down with the intention of writing something, sometimes I can only grasp the beauty of some wonderful experiences after they have been translated into poetry.

I believe it flows through me, and that I am as much of a medium as the ink with which I write.

I love to sing and play guitar

Music is high among my favourite things in the world. Right from holding an FM radio to my ear as I slept as a little kid, to having thousands of songs in curated playlists today, music has always had my heart.

I have performed at multiple cafes, and open mics across Pune and Mumbai and love to play for intimate groups of close friends and family.

I love to travel

My solo trips to Bir, McLeodganj, and Gokarna have been some of the most memorable experiences of my life. Whether it involves sneaking to Berlin over the weekend during my internship in Denmark, or a much needed respite only sought by skiing in Kashmir, I never pass up an opportunity to visit beautiful places and find meaning in life.

My inspiration

I learnt to play the guitar the same way I learnt to code and design. through the generosity of skilled evangelists who decided to put out lessons online for free. As a coder, I stand on the shoulders of giants that put up incredible open source projects and libraries for people like me to use. This incredible contribution of people for no other reason than to push the human race forward is what inspires me.

“A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they shall never sit in.” - Greek Proverb

My aspiration

I aspire to leave the planet much better off than it would have been without me, by touching the lives of people in every way that I can help.

I want to put a ding in the universe.
